Community theatre has underpinned all theatre in this country and when you work in a local theatre it can only be done in friendship and by putting yourself out. There are many wonderful actors in community shows who could easily make a living for themselves in professional theatre, but they choose not to.
Gathering together people with varying talents, Encore build teams that make something that wasn’t there before. Live theatre.
Drawn from all walks of life and age demographics, school teachers work alongside office professional, single mums alongside newly arrived migrants. Each year up to 500 members of the local community combine their talents to build Encore’s community theatre productions.
