Blood Brothers

BLOOD BROTHERS

27 October – 11 November 2017 at the EARL ARTS CENTRE

Did y’hear the story of the Johnstone twins?

Willy Russell’s smash hit musical  Blood Brothers is  the provocative, hilarious and heartbreaking show that tells the unforgettable story of the Johnstone twins.

Separated at birth when their mother cannot afford to keep them both, Mickey and Edward grow up streets apart, becoming best friends but never knowing the truth of their heritage. The prophecy that twins who are separated at birth will die on the day they find out their heritage brings this stunningly crafted musical to its shattering conclusion.

The London production of Blood Brothers ran for more than 24 years, winning every British “Best Musical” award along the way. It is one of only three musicals in history to play for more than 10,000 London performances – the other two are Les Misérables and The Phantom of the Opera.

This new Tasmanian production, produced by Encore Theatre Company, was presented in Launceston’s Earl Arts Centre for a strictly limited three-week engagement and was a rare opportunity for audiences to witness this musical theatre masterpiece with a thrilling cast in an intimate setting where it becomes even more powerful.
