About Encore Theatre Company
Family, friendship, love, laughter, curiosity, risk… hope and possibility. The theatre is a place for experiencing all of these values that hold us together as a community.
It is with these qualities in mind that Encore Theatre Company was founded in Tasmania in April 2008 to create top quality community shows built with creativity, innovation and excellence.
Encore successfully debuted in 2008 with their production of The Sound of Music. Many wonderful theatrical experiences followed, including the critically-acclaimed Strictly Ballroom and Les Misérables, the sold-out season of Fawlty Towers and the crowning achievements of presenting Jon English in Jesus Christ Superstar and Sue Hodge in The Vicar of Dibley, to the awe-inspiring spectacle and thrill of The Phantom of the Opera, Strictly Ballroom and Wicked.
The creation of this vibrant community arts company in Launceston has generated significant interest and provided a powerful means to motivate and inspire young people throughout the region, with Encore entertaining 200,000+ theatre patrons across more than 37 productions since 2008.
